What is the meaning of Ojas?

Thanks for asking! Ojas Retreat Center is named after the Sanskrit word "Ojas" which means vitality and refers to the inner fire we need to carry out our purpose.  It is a common principle in Ayurveda and it's ignited by the lifestyle we choose to live and how we nourish our body, mind, and soul.

What's the best/closest airport to Ojas?

Ojas is located in the Santa Rosa Plateau in S. California in an area called La Cresta- northwest of Murrieta & Temecula. Part of what makes Ojas a great location is remoteness without being far from services. There are 5 major airports within 90 miles of Ojas. Here they are in distance order:

ONT (Ontario/LA/San Bernardino) 51 miles
SBD (San Bernardino Airport)   53 miles
SNA (John Wayne/ Orange County Airport) 62 miles
SAN (San Diego Airport) 74 miles
LAX (Los Angeles Airport) 88 miles

People come to Ojas from all over the world. Look for direct flights from where you are coming. The easiest travel time/most direct route is from ONT (Ontario) about 50 minutes. ONT has direct flights from 26 cities. SAN (San Diego) is the largest/most direct flights airport with the easiest road travel time, 65-80 minutes. Although LAX likely has the most air travel options, it is by far the most challenging due to unpredictable traffic.

*Local Tip: Try to arrive at any airport at or before 1pm (2pm at the latest), otherwise you may be in some unpleasant traffic and arrive late to your retreat.

Options for getting to Ojas from the airports include renting a vehicle or hiring a car service like Uber or Lyft which typically costs $60-$140 depending on location and timing. Or, a service can be hired such as Temecula Air Shuttle or Transit Van Shuttle to transport an individual or group.

What should guests bring to Ojas?

Ojas is in a Mediterranean climate and at an elevation of about 2500 ft.  Early morning and night time temperatures are generally 20-30 degrees cooler than the day. Humidity is low.  Here’s a short list of items you MAY LIKE TO BRING according to your taste and comfort:

Layers of clothes/Warm Sweatshirt or Sweater
Bathing Suit
Sunscreen & hat 
Close toe trekking/walking shoes (if you plan to hike)
Flip flops/slides for walking between buildings and the pool
Slippers for inside 
Water bottle
Journal for taking notes during your retreat
Any personal items

What we Have

Bath and pool towels
Chemical free soap, shampoo, & conditioner & hair dryers
Yoga mats, meditation cushions, blankets, and props
Septic system. DO NOT plan to flush anything down the toilet except TP 
Whole property water filtration system: Water is filtered from every faucet

Where will all the guests park?

We have enough parking for every guest! Up to 20 vehicles can park in our driveway when parked mindfully. We also have auxiliary parking if needed.

Is the property shared with other groups during our stay?

Accepted Answer

No. When you book Ojas Retreat Center for your retreat, the entire property is reserved exclusively for your group. We host only one retreat at a time to ensure privacy, presence, and a fully immersive experience. This allows your guests to truly settle into the peaceful energy of the land without outside distractions.

Are rooms shared or can guests have private accommodations?

Question 7

Is there cell service & wifi at Ojas?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we offer both Wi-Fi and cell service. Our Wi-Fi is reliable and fast throughout the main areas of the property. Cell service, however, may vary depending on your carrier and your location on the grounds. For example, reception is generally strong around the main buildings but can be spotty in areas like the pool.

Where is the closest hiking trail?

We have a private hiking trail- a loop that winds through native plants, trees, and shrubs. There are 3 different types of sage bushes growing naturally in abundance along with wildflowers, reflection benches, and beautiful views on the Santa Rosa Plateau. For longer hikes, The Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve is just a 5 minute drive down the hill!

Can I bring my pet?

We love animals, however- to maintain the peaceful energy and allergy-conscious environment of Ojas, we do not allow pets on the property. However, we do welcome registered service animals in compliance with ADA guidelines. Thank you for understanding and helping us keep the space comfortable for all guests.
